INDONESIAN STUDENT INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE 2010

Indonesian Student Association in the United Kingdom (PPI-UK) has been successfully and continuously organising the Indonesian Student International Scientific Conference. This year, the Conference’s theme is Science, Development and Sustainability.
Over the past decades, science has been developing quite rapidly. Science, as broadly defined, has been contributing to the development of many countries, including our very own, Indonesia. The issue of sustainability has also arisen: how to sustain development which leads to positive influence throughout the country? Despite the success stories, the advancement of science has also brought growing concerns. Many studies have provided evidence how science can, too, presents negative implications in a country’s development. These concerns should perhaps be highlighted in many aspects of development, including political, social as well as technological areas.
The Indonesian Students International Conference 2010 Conference is calling for contribution from any fields of study to engage into the discussion of the multi-dimensional perspective of science, development and sustainability, which is to include, but not limited to:
a. Economic
1. Economic assumptions/ model/paradigms
2. Finance and accounting
3. Econometrics data, trend and pattern
4. Management and administration
5. Other economic dimensions affecting development and sustainability.
b. Technological
1. Technological change and environment
2. Innovation and innovative processes
3. Technology transfer
4. Technology management
5. Technology and society
6. Other technological dimensions underpinning science, development and sustainability.
c. Social, cultural and religion
1. Globalisation
2. Intellectual Property
3. Health insurance
4. Education
5. Youth development
6. Theology
7. Civil society organisations
8. Other social and cultural dimensions affecting the dynamics of science, development and sustainability.
d. Political and policy
1. Government agenda and public policies
2. National stability
3. Political reform
4. Political support and interest
5. Political security development
6. Other political and policy dimensions governing and shaping the development of Indonesia.
We call for appropriate papers with the following specifications.
1. Extended Abstract: max 1500 words in English (preferably UK English). The extended abstract must contain the main idea, brief background, research questions, brief methods, main theories / literatures as well as overview of the result(s). Please kindly save the extended abstract in MS Word, RTF, or PDF file.
2. Full paper: max 7,000 words in English (preferably UK English). The paper should devise a clear structure which outlines the (i) Introduction, (ii) Literature review, (iii) Methodology, (iv) Data or findings, (v) Discussion and (vi) Conclusion. Please kindly save the full paper in MS Word, RTF, or PDF file.
3. Presentation: max 15 minutes presentation in English. Participants should present their final paper. The presentation is followed by 5 minutes comment from appointed discussant(s) and 10 minutes floor discussion. It is suggested that the author prepares a presentation material (e.g. in slide or PDF file).
The extended abstracts will be reviewed by the Board of Reviewer. Upon review process, accepted abstracts will be announced. Shall the authors be willing to present their works in the Conference; they have to submit the final paper along with the presentation materials. The final papers will be published in the Conference proceeding which will be distributed to the participants (in print or electronically in CD) in the workshop.
In the presentation sessions, each paper will be commented by appointed discussants, participants, and relevant chair (i.e. a member of the Board of Reviewer). Each presenter will also act as a discussant for another presenter in the same panel.
